PhD Programs

Most PhD students in Germany complete an individual doctorate, writing a thesis or dissertation under the supervision of a professor.

Universities of Applied Sciences cannot grant PhD degrees on their own. In order to allow students to obtain a PhD, UAS7 universities cooperate with "traditional" research universities. The student will have two supervisors, one at each institution.

Currently, about 750 students are completing a PhD at our universities (as of 2020).
