Projektbeschreibung
Within the research project "Urban Aqua", partners from science and industry are developing an applied concept of the blue bioeconomy. The main aim is to demonstrate a sustainable production of fish and vegetables in an urban environment. This involves the bioconversion of various residual materials and by-products from the pilot plant itself and the surrounding industries with duckweed, microalgae and insects. One part of the project involves the use of gaseous side streams, e.g. process gases and/or exhaust air for the cultivation of microalgae.
Aufgaben
-Optimization of an existing screening device for the cultivation of microalgae by ensuring a
uniform, reliable flow rate from two different sources (e.g. process air vs. ambient air)
-Documentation +comparison of methods for measuring CO2 and NH3 in gas phases, selection and implementation of suitable methods
-Growth experiments with microalgae in the optimized screening device with various gaseous
residues at the pilot site in Bremen Überseestadt district
-Conducting, monitoring and documentation of the experiments, comparison and evaluation of
microalgae growth and bioconversion of the process gas components
Anforderungen
-Fundamentals in biology and process technology
-Lab practical experience
-3rd year of Bachelor or higher
