Practical Deployment of a PEM Water Electrolyzer Installation in the Laboratory for Energy Engineering
In the context of current development of energy policy in Germany and in Europe and accordingly required disclaimer of nuclear and fossil fuel energy, hydrogen technology represents one of the few alternatives that can meet the ambitious goals of the following years and decades and could be a realistic solution for the energy storage in a big scale.
In order to implement this technology in practical orientated research work and practical education of engineers, a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser along with the associated auxiliary installations is being designed and deployed in the thermal power laboratory of Hochschule Bremen as a test and demonstration plant. This test bench should be taken into operation, tested and optimized within the next years and participation of students is one of the main strategic goals of this project.
