UAS7 Exchange Student Among Gilman Scholarship Recipients
We are happy to announce that Benjamin Brobbey, a 3rd year Electrical Engineering Student at Drexel University, is among the first 40 recipients of the new Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship. This prestigious grant will support his UAS7 Study and Internship Program (SIP) at HAW Hamburg starting in fall 2022.
The new partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) was announced earlier this year. The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship provides 40 additional scholarships per year for the next three years for exceptional U.S. undergraduate students to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. This new partnership represents the largest ever Gilman partnership to support American undergraduate students, who represent the diversity of the United States, to study or intern abroad.
Benjamin Brobbey, an outstanding student at UAS7 partner Drexel University, had been selected for the UAS7 Study and Internship Program in February 2022 and was also granted the UAS7 travel stipend to cover his transatlantic travel costs. Benjamin will start his study term in fall 2022. He will be enrolled at HAW Hamburg for one semester, studying for academic credit. After the study period, he will do a company internship in the spring of 2023 to complete his Study and Internship experience in Germany.
The UAS7 Study and Internship Program is open to all students enrolled at accredited North American colleges and universities who would like to spend one or two semester studying and/or interning at one of our seven locations in Germany.
UAS7 is delighted to have one of our SIP exchange students among the first recipients of this new grant program and would like to congratulate Benjamin on his successful application. We are very much looking forward to welcoming him in Germany soon.
