Takeaways from the UAS7 SIP - Alumna Martina C. Alles shares her journey
Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience for students. The benefits to your education and career are countless, from enhancing your global network to experiencing a new culture. It’s no wonder that the number of students earning a degree outside of their home country is increasing yearly.
Martina Comiotto Alles studied Nutrition at our partner university in Brazil - Unisinos. With the UAS7 Study & Internship Program, she spent three semesters as a guest student at Hochschule Osnabrück, while doing an internship at a food technology company (Elea). She talks about the tremendous benefits to her education and career:
This experience brought many positive things in my life. First, I could publish the results of my research in an international journal. I also won an award for my internship project, about insects. It was the Campus Prize at the Food Future Day in 2020, which was organized by the university. And lastly, I actually stayed (working) at Elea, I kept working in the R&D department.
After working at a German company for about 3 years, Martina decided to follow up on her studies and pursue a master’s degree in Food Science and Technology, at the KU Leuven in Belgium.

This opportunity not only opened doors for me academically and professionally, but also inspired me to continue with this international route and continue exploring new cultures, new countries, new languages.
