Prof. Dr. Frank Dellmann new Chairman of the Board of the UAS7 university network
Prof. Dr. Frank Dellmann is the new Chairman of the UAS7 university network. On April 1, 2024, the President of Münster University of Applied Sciences will succeed Prof. Dr. Andreas Zaby, who has held this office since 2016 and is now moving to the Federal Agency for Leap Innovations SPRIND in Leipzig. The presidents of the seven member universities from Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Münster and Osnabrück unanimously elected Frank Dellmann to his new position at their last meeting. In addition to Frank Dellmann, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Heuchemer (Cologne University of Applied Sciences) was elected Deputy Chairman and Prof. Dr. Konrad Josef Wolf (Bremen University of Applied Sciences) was elected Treasurer.
"Especially in turbulent times like these, it is very important for us to network with other universities and create a speaking tube through which we can raise our issues," says Dellmann. There are enough of them: declinig numbers of students, a shortage of skilled workers and the tight financial situation are just a few examples. As chairman, Dellmann wants to bring the alliance even more into the public eye. "Research at universities of applied sciences is very practice-oriented and socially relevant. We want to raise awareness of this among people, companies and institutions."
As a first step, Dellmann wants to further consolidate the alliance. "My aim is to ensure continuity." One strategic goal is to expand research cooperation. "In view of the global challenges, it is necessary for universities to work together on interdisciplinary solutions. To this end, we want to strengthen our researchers' networks," said the new spokesperson for the UAS7 network in an initial statement.
Following his election, Dellmann thanked the outgoing chairman for his many years of work and particularly recalled his commitment to strengthening UAS7's transatlantic projects with North America; UAS7 has been operating a liaison office in New York since 2005. Under Zaby's leadership, UAS7 was able to establish itself as a recognized counterpart in federal and state politics. Numerous new initiatives were also implemented during his term of office, such as the introduction of annual academic conferences and the successful roadshow on the career path to a professorship at a UAS.
Frank Dellmann, born in 1967, has been a member of the FH Münster Executive Board since 2014 and has been President since October 2021. He was appointed Professor of Business Mathematics and Statistics at Münster UAS in 2000.
