An Opportunity of a Lifetime

What felt like 2 days also felt like a lifetime! 6 months interning at the UAS7 Liaison Office New York and I can’t put into words how enriching this experience was.

It is such an honor to be part of the UAS7 family and part of the city that never sleeps. I was warmly welcomed by Patrizia Nobbe, our Executive Director of the UAS7 Liaison Office New York, and by our colleagues from the liaison offices of German universities located in New York City, whom I first met at the Apollo Theater - where I got the first impressions of the US American entertainment world. It quickly felt like a trusted environment and a well-coordinated team. A team that excels at organizing thought-provoking and informative events. A team I’ve learned so much from.

Working at the UAS7 office brought me immense joy, as it provided me with a more profound understanding of Public Relations, Marketing, and Nonprofit Management. A big thank you to Patrizia for introducing me to complex topics related to Education and Politics in the US, which always stimulated my thinking, and for assuming the role of a mentor during my months here.

Several events that UAS7 participated in or co-organized were highlights for me, including educational fairs like the virtual Germany Grad Fair, Career Booster, and die Stunde der HAWs, as well as insightful talks like Science Diplomacy in International Organizations. Additionally, the alumni get-togethers at the Holiday Gathering and New Year's Reception were delightful. These events provided me with the opportunity to meet many interesting individuals and connect with people who share a passion for intercultural affairs, which was highly inspiring for me.

At this point I would like for everyone to feel encouraged to live abroad for a period of time, if there is the chance. No matter where you call home, moving to a foreign country can open your eyes and heart to a whole new way of living. It's amazing to see how different cultures approach life, and it can really enrich your own perspective and values. It is an adventure that will expand your horizons and leave you with unforgettable memories!

Thank you UAS7, and thank you to every single person who was part of my journey in New York City!
