A new evaluation tool for COIL projects: Focus on the intercultural learning process

Since the UAS7 Virtual Academy is a joint project between several institutions, it seeks to bundle and harmonize competencies as much as possible in order to build capacity and ensure that the project has a trickle-down effect throughout the universities and beyond. Experts on evaluation, quality management, and intercultural competence from all participating German universities joined forces to create a joint evaluation tool (questionnaire) for students, in order to measure the impact of the projects.

Virtual Academy Spotlight Hochschule Bremen: Overcoming Linguistic Challenges in International Teams

Back in February 2021, Professor Mechthild Schrooten from the Bremen City University of Applied Sciences (HSB) and Professor Rita Biswas from the University at Albany (UA) started a joint transatlantic teaching project as part of the UAS7 Virtual Academy. On April 12th, the third joint session took place, which was a highlight of the course for teachers and students alike.

Virtual Academy Spotlight Hochschule München: Leadership project welcomes guest speakers from both sides of the Atlantic

As part of the UAS7 Virtual Academy pilot phase Dominik Hammer of Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences (HM) and Martha Asselin of the University at Albany (Ualbany) are co-teaching a virtual course on interdisciplinary leadership with a focus on decision-making processes in crisis situations. On April 7, the transatlantic class was joined by high-ranking experts of both institutions who shared valuable insights into their own leadership experience in crisis situations.

Die Bund-Länder-Initiative fördert im Rahmen ihres gemeinsamen Programmes "FH-Personal" die Gewinnung akademischen Personals an Hochschulen für angewandte Wissenschaften in Deutschland. Unter den 64 geförderten Hochschulen finden sich auch vier UAS7-Hochschulen: Die TH Köln, die Hochschule München, die HWR Berlin sowie die Hochschule Osnabrück.

Die UAS7-Roadshow “Wege zur Professur” gastiert seit 2017 in regelmäßigen Abständen an den sieben Mitgliedshochschulen des Verbunds. Im Dezember 2020 fand die Veranstaltung erstmals virtuell statt - am 12.03.2021 folgte nun die zweite Online-Ausgabe mit über 160 Teilnehmenden, die sich an der Hochschule München über die besonderen Merkmale einer HAW-Professur informierten.

Moving the Cities 2020, Hackathon Uniting Industry & Academia

Moving the Cities is an international event that has been reoccurring annually since 2018. It unites students, professors, industry representatives and universities from all over the world. The goal of Moving the Cities is to look at regional challenges that cities face from an international perspective. To do just that, 135+ students from 6 countries collaborated digitally for one week. 28 internationally mixed teams with participants from Brazil, Chile, Germany, Colombia, England and the USA competed in the final pitches to convince the international jury of their solution.

Dieses Jahr drehte sich beim 23. „Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education“ (ACIEE) der University of Rhode island (URI) alles um das Thema "Engineering the Future". Im Fokus stand die Bedeutung von Innovationen, Anpassungsfähigkeit und starken Beziehungen für die Zukunft der Ingenieurwissenschaften. UAS7 wurde in einem Workshop zum Thema „Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Engineering Futures B“ durch Svea Petersen von der Hochschule Osnabrück vertreten.
