Project description
We are researching in the field of lithium ion battery with special interest in the determination of the state-of-charge (SOC). This is usually done with electrical measurements that have some drawbacks. We have therefore developed an optical setup that allows for a direct observation of the battery cell during the charge and discharge cycle which gives us an additional access to estimate the SOC and to gain further information about the cell behaviour. Students can achieve a deeper insight into recent battery research activities combined with measurement electronics.
