International 3D Printing

The UAS7 Virtual Academy brings students together across continents for virtual collaboration: Students from Munich University of Applied Sciences developed a dice game with a 3D printer in their "3D Printing & Design" lecture as part of the UAS7 Virtual Academy. Their fellow students from the US partner university SUNY Canton are now working on a production concept.

An international insight into approaches to sustainability in the US and Germany: Virtual COIL project between HWR Berlin and Drexel University

„A match made in heaven“, this is how Prof. Dr. Sonja Klose from HWR Berlin kicked off her virtual collaboration, a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project, with her counterpart Prof. Daniel Korschun from Drexel University in the US. 70 students from both universities came together for a joint virtual project.

Bremen & Albany: Wrapping up a virtual cooperation in person

Prof. Dr. Mechthild Schrooten, Bremen City University of Applied Sciences (UAS7) and Prof. Dr. Rita Biswas, University at Albany (SUNY), organized a virtual "Global Finance" course for their students from both institutions as part of the UAS7 Virtual Academy this spring term. To wrap up their cooperation, which also included a joint presentation at an international conference, they met in Bremen to plan further research together.

Digital Icebreakers – How to Kill the Chill in International Contexts

During the COVID-19 pandemic the International Office like other members of the HWR Berlin has had to rethink how it engages with our international partners and incoming exchange students. Thankfully the virtual tools at our disposal have meant that we could engage in creative solutions for the onboarding of students involved in online international exchange. The HWR Berlin’s participation in the UAS7 Virtual Academy has also allowed us to continue international exchange activities online with partners from countries where in-person exchange was unfeasible during the pandemic.

Warming up for a unique intercultural experience

April 2021 was an intense month of learning and cross-cultural interaction for students of the course Different Approaches to Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility in the US and the EU at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin (HWR Berlin). Students joined selected counterparts from the University at Albany in the US for a month-long interactive online course that placed international collaboration at its heart.

UAS7 Virtual Academy officially kicked-off

On December 2nd 2020, the UAS7 Virtual Academy held its inaugural kick-off event. Project stakeholders from both the US and Germany came together virtually to learn more about the plans for the UAS7 Virtual Academy and get to know one another. Almost 50 faculty, project coordinators, e-learning and digitalization specialists as well as senior university members joined the event.

German Ministry for Education and Research grants 250,000 EUR in funding for transatlantic "UAS7 Virtual Academy"

Due to the corona pandemic, not only in Germany has the university system predominantly gone virtual, universities have significantly expanded their digital teaching and learning offerings. This increase in digitalization is also to be anchored in international university cooperation projects. To this end, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will fund the joint project "UAS7 Virtual Academy" led by Bremen City University of Applied Sciences. The total grant amount is 250,000 euros.
