UAS7 turns 20!

In 2005, seven German Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) have founded the university network UAS7 – the first of its kind in Germany. Following a call from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the founding universities began their collaboration by establishing a joint liaison office in the German House in New York. The office is still located there today.

“This year, UAS7 proudly celebrates 20 years of pioneering spirit in international higher education collaboration. I am deeply grateful to our member universities of applied sciences and to our international partners for their unwavering commitment to fostering innovation in applied teaching and research as well as global collaboration on an equal footing. Together, we look forward to continuing to develop pioneering solutions to shape a future that is worth living globally through outstanding applied teaching and research.”

The founding members are still members of the network today, demonstrating reliability and trust-based collaboration that has grown steadily over two decades at the level of university management and between other university departments.

The universities collaborate on the strategic dimensions of research, quality, and internationality. The UAS7 universities combine their high level of expertise in applied, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research and development. They strengthen the UAS professorship as a professional field and promote early-career scientists according to network-wide quality standards. As a quality alliance, UAS7 sets high standards for the performance areas of the universities and compares them. The network promotes international exchange and cooperation with foreign partners in education, science, society, business, and industry.

The UAS7 member universities are the Berlin School of Economics and Law, the Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, the TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, the HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, the FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, and the Hochschule Osnabrück – University of Applied Sciences.
