UAS7 New York Internship 2025
It was almost six months ago that I first stepped into the UAS7 Liaison Office in New York. I didn't really know what to expect from my internship then and felt slightly overwhelmed by the endless possibilities that New York City had to offer. What followed was an exciting journey that broadened my academic, professional, and personal perspectives:

Throughout my time at UAS7, I had the opportunity to contribute to the office’s mission of promoting international academic exchange, gain hands-on experience in communication and event management, and deepen my understanding of higher education systems in Germany and the United States. Being based in one of North America’s central hubs for students, researchers as well as academic and cultural institutions enabled me to connect with inspiring people and learn about their diverse career paths that had brought them to New York.
From day one, I was warmly welcomed by Patrizia Nobbe, who not only explained the inner workings of a liaison office to me but also included me in every aspect of the office’s activities, sharing her insights and own experiences along the way. Her mentorship made the internship a truly inspiring experience.
I was also fortunate to work alongside and collaborate with colleagues from other German university liaison offices and research institutions on the 15th floor of the German Consulate General. A special mention goes to my fellow interns, who shared both the workday and the adventure of exploring the city with me, making New York feel more like home.
My internship got off to an intense start in August with preparations for two major events: the visit of the UAS7 presidents to North America and the GAIN Conference 2025 in Boston. Since then, my daily tasks remained varied and engaging, including the presentation of UAS7 programmes at study fairs in Albany and New York, visiting the German International School in New York with other interns, participating in the Steuben Parade, preparing social media posts and supporting various other projects and events. Each task has offered new learning opportunities and the chance to contribute ideas.
Overall, my time living and working in New York has been an unforgettable experience that will surely continue to guide me in my career for years to come.
A huge thank you to everyone at UAS7, especially Patrizia Nobbe and Stephanie Sarah Wernet!
