Former Brazilian intern Mariana shares her experience with UAS7
I was introduced to UAS7 at an event in São Leopoldo, Brazil. The event, called the Seminário de Enfermagem Brasil-Alemanha, brought together students and professors from four German universities that are part of the UAS7 alliance. At that time, I was an undergraduate Nursing student and was invited to participate as a translator for English and Portuguese during the event.
It was an incredible experience. The exchange of knowledge, teaching methods, and cultural insights were truly enriching.
Following this event, I learned about the opportunity to apply for a UAS7 virtual intern position at my university in Brazil. This role involved supporting and promoting the alliance's activities in Brazil and Latin America. I was fortunate to be selected for this position, and it became a pivotal moment in both my personal and professional life. I had never considered my professional or academic future from an international perspective before this experience.
During the internship, I encountered numerous challenges, but it was a transformative period that broadened my view of my academic training and professional future. It highlighted how sharing and enriching knowledge with an international perspective can enhance our work. In our globalized society, collaborating and sharing knowledge in an interprofessional, multidisciplinary, and intercultural manner is a powerful tool for creating a better world. Each of us, through our professional endeavors, contributes to this goal, as exemplified by my internship experience with UAS7 and Unisinos.
