Eye-Tracking in Landscape Architecture

Abstract

‘Eye-Tracking Collective.landscape architecture’ (ETC.la) was created in 2015 to implement mobile eye-tracking as a future research method. It is a tool to analyse gaze behaviours of subjects in various fields of landscape architecture such as public spaces, landscapes, graphic-design or professional activities, to name a few.

Tasks

 

The internship offers the possibility to cooperate both in theoretical research and practical field studies. It is possible to extend the study as a thesis. The individual task will be announced according to current research questions, or might be developed together.

Requirements

Technical skills: Knowledge of certain fields of landscape architecture or related disciplines is prerequisite, for example: architectural presentation, Adobe CS, CAD, GIS, architectural photography and insights in planning procedures. BA in landscape architecture or specific knowledge of eye-tracking is not required but would be an advantage.

Personal skills: critical thinking, creativity, resourcefulness

Language Skills

English (German would be helpful, but is not necessary)

3 - 6 months

Internship in Vegetation Ecology at

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences

Project

The Faculty of Agriculture and Landscape of Osnabrück UAS has started the research network Urban AgriCulture (including topics like urban farming, urban planning, resource management, urban biodiversity).

In this subproject the effects of urban land use on natural and semi-natural vegetation will be studied.

Tasks

 

  • Literature research
  • Field work (vegetation, site characteristics)
  • Data analysis

Requirements

  • Students of Biology, Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Landscape Architecture (with ecological knowledge)
  • Graduate student or undergraduate student at the beginning of the third year or advanced
  • Basic skills in analysis of ecological data
  • Practical experience with field work

Language Skills

Good English language skills (German: Not necessary, but beneficial)

Duration

3 - 4 months

Investigation Of Reinforced Grass On Football Pitches

Tasks

Depending on your interests and skills different approaches are possible:

  • Examination of turfgrass products' functional properties
  • Analysis of different fiber materials by improving their usability

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge Turfgrass Science/Turfgrass Management for Sports Turf
  • graduate or undergraduate students
  • basic skills in data analysis
  • practical lab experience

Language Skills

English (German would be helpful but is not necessary)
