University Profile

The Berlin School of Economics (BSE) is one of the largest and most distinguished academic institutions for business studies and postgraduate management education in Germany. 24 undergraduate degree and ten postgraduate degree programs demonstrate the school’s depth and breadth in the fields of business and economics. The university enjoys an excellent national and international reputation that is regularly reflected by excellent marks in national ranking surveys.

The BSE mission emphasizes the integration of an international perspective in teaching and research, a strong orientation towards business practice and an integrative and interdisciplinary approach. As a specialized university for business and economics, it calls for a study concept that guarantees all students strong links to business and professional life. In close partnership with more than 480 companies (e.g. BMW, DaimlerChrysler, IBM, Ikea, Siemens) the BSE runs 15 cooperative study programs that provide high-level practical experience in addition to the study courses. Clearly structured modular degree schemes allow the students to gain sound general business and economic expertise, complemented by sophisticated specialized education according to personal interests and skills. Thereby, every student can develop an individual profile of qualification.

International Orientation

The school’s international orientation is reflected in its study courses, several bi-national dual award programs with other European universities, in its more than 60 cooperation agreements with universities worldwide, but also in the two languages of instruction: German and English.

Three of the university’s eight Master programs are completely taught in English, and it is the second language of instruction in the other Master programs. A considerable number of courses are offered in English in several Bachelor programs as well. Every year the Berlin School of Economics we;comes a large number of exchange students. Participants from all over the world join the annual three- to four-week summer school.

City Profile

With more than 3 million inhabitants, Berlin is not only Germany’s capital, but also its largest city. Berlin is dynamic, cosmopolitan, creative, and known for a vibrant cultural scene that offers everything from world-renowned orchestras to lively galleries, clubs and street cafes. As a major center in European politics, culture, media and science it is full of opportunities.

Due to the political changes in Eastern Europe after 1989, Berlin now is in the heart of the expanding European Union. You can still experience the exciting and unique developments from former Cold War times to the current European political and social process in Berlin’s every day life, because here East really meets West.
