Mario Flores, Munich UAS

Kettering University in Michigan, USA

Coming here was my first time in Munich, and even though I had heard great things about the city and its people, I was not sure what to expect. Fortunately, not only did I find everything I was told, but more. Munich is a great city, and the Bavarians are helpful, amiable and very nice people, not exactly the idea of Germans in other countries. It has been a very positive cultural shock and I have learned countless things in this few months.

One of the big reasons this experience has been so good and rewarding, is the MUAS. Since we got here we were welcomed by a very professional team that was readily available to help us. The International Office was extremely helpful with all our questions and concerns. Our lack of knowledge on how to register for classes and how the German system works was not an issue, thanks to them.

On the academic side, I am very satisfied as well. Lectures were very interesting, even though we had to adapt to the German structure of classes. It was not easy at first, since we are used to a faster paced environment, continuous assignments and tests, but once we figured out what we had to do, it became a much better experience. Laboratories were very helpful. Each of them illustrated the topics learned on the lectures and the equipment was very complete and illustrative.

All in all, this has been a great experience. I am currently doing an internship with a German company, and I continue to learn and enjoy more each day from my experience in Munich.
