Kevin Walsh, Munich UAS

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, USA

My name is Kevin Walsh and I am having a very positive experience here in Munich.
I missed the application deadline for the exchange program, but I was accepted anyways. Not only that, but I received extremely generous scholarships and discounted housing. These benefits helped so much that my studies here are actually much less expensive than if I were to stay in California. The clerical part of the application process was relatively concise and painless.

I am pleased with the residence hall (Felsennelkenanger): the place accommodates me well and the price is excellent.

I continue to enjoy exploring Munich. I love how safe and accommodating the city is for bicyclists and pedestrians. The night life here is wonderful, and I am surprised how easy it is for me to socialize without speaking German.

I met many people at the orientation day, and even more through the International Club. I am very glad that FHM offers low cost excursions (Munich city tour, Neuschwanstein, etc.). I signed up for all of them, and had a great time!

(...) I came to see the world and meet its people, as well as get fresh perspectives on all things in life. (...) I feel I have spent my time here very well. I have learned a lot about many things in life, and I have had time to explore other parts of myself. I will go home a better person.

I feel quite privileged to be able to perform an internship at BMW here in Munich. I think this will really help me advance my career in the future. When I got here I was under the impression that I had an internship waiting for me. I was disheartened to find out otherwise. I do not object to having to find the internship on my own, but I wish I would have known much earlier. (...)

I really love this city and its people. I wish we had more snow; I get enough sunshine in California. Munich has become my favorite city. When I go home, I will share my experience with others and help the program grow stronger. This experience has changed my life for the better. My goals and path in life has finally become clear to me. And I will seriously consider living here in the future.
