How can universities cooperate?

Cooperation with UAS7 universities and US American universities is possible and encouraged in the following areas:

Exchange of Students

Students from one university visit one of the partner universities either for one semester or for one year and take regular classes there. Credits are transferred to the home university for mandatory or elective classes. The student exchange is based on reciprocal balance. It may contain theoretical and/or practical studies (internships). Students pay tuition fees for their respective programs at the home institution, while the host institution waives tuition fees for exchange students.

Exchange of faculty

To further the internationalization of the UAS7 universities, the alliance promotes faculty exchange with its partner universities. Exchange is possible on a short-term basis (e.g. for one or two weeks) or for the duration of a full semester or year. It can happen on a one-on-one basis where the faculty members exchange even accommodations or faculty members can be hired directly by an international partner university for a certain period of time while being on leave from their home university.

Development of double-degree and joint-degree programs

Double- and joint-degree programs are very attractive for students and helpful for their future careers in international companies. Students will start their studies at their home university and finish their degree program at a partner university abroad. In order to award a double degree, a certain amount of semesters have to be studied at each university. Degrees like these demand very close cooperation between partner universities.

Common short-term study programs (e.g. summer programs)

These programs (e.g. summer school) are relatively easy to organize and combine short-term student and staff exchange. Students who participate in such a common program of international partner universities receive credits, which they can use toward their studies at their home universities.

Common R&D activities

In areas of mutual academic interest, UAS7 partners are interested in collaborating with partner universities in research activities. R&D pursued at the UAS7 is often of an applied nature and carried out in collaboration with industry and business.
