On May 2, 2011, Die Zeit reported that business programs at universities of applied sciences achieved high levels of internationalization in the newest ranking carried out by the Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung. UAS7 member institutions placed overwhelmingly in the top category. Germany was ranked first in a British Council survey measuring the internationalization of higher education. UAS7 members have been recognized for exceeding internationalization measures captured in this study, for example when the Bremen University of Applied Sciences was recognized in 2010 by the DAAD for its success in promoting mobility among students and researchers while pushing its proportion of international students and international (English-language) programs well above these already high nationwide averages.  The Münster University of Applied Sciences is now offering a Master's program in Photonics entirely in English. This degree program is one of the very few degree programs in Germany which are completely focused on optical technologies with particular emphasis on laser technology. This degree offers excellent professional opportunities in the rapidly growing photonics industry, and also offers the opportunity to continue studying in a Ph. D. program.
